Country dancing is dancing done to Country music. It developed in Honky Tonks throughout Texas and the Western United States throughout the mid to late 20th century. The "Texas" 2-step was developed from foxtrot and danced around the floor counter clockwise. It became very popular after the movie "Urban Cowboy" in the late 1970's. In country competitions dancers compete in 2-step, Waltz, East Coast Swing, West coast Swing, Cha Cha, Night club two, polka and line dance. Traditional Country/Western apparel is worn.
